Senior (Years 7-8)

The Senior Section represents the culmination of the Castle Court journey.

Developing Leaders with Heart

A time when pupils develop into confident, compassionate and capable young people ready for the next stage of their education and beyond. In Years 7 and 8, leadership and service sit at the heart of school life. Guided by the principles of servant leadership, pupils are encouraged to contribute meaningfully to the wider community and lead with empathy, integrity and humility.

Every Year 8 pupil undertakes a leadership role tailored to their strengths and interests, contributing to areas such as Sport, Performing Arts, Academics, House leadership and Well-being. Alongside this, pupils mentor younger children, developing communication, collaboration and compassion while strengthening the close relationships that define the Castle Court community.

Cultivating Independent, Critical Thinkers

Academically, pupils are challenged to become confident, independent and critical thinkers. The Prep School Baccalaureate is fully embedded within the curriculum, promoting creativity, adaptability, resilience and intellectual curiosity. Pupils are encouraged to think deeply, articulate ideas confidently and take increasing ownership of their learning.

Scholarship pathways in Academics, Sport, Drama, DT, Music and Performing Arts are supported through expert guidance and tailored preparation. The curriculum extends beyond the classroom through enrichment opportunities, outdoor education, social action initiatives, cultural experiences and partnerships with the wider community.

Beyond the Classroom: Sport & Arts

Sport continues to play a significant role in Senior School life, developing resilience, teamwork and commitment. Whether competing in team sports or pursuing individual pathways such as swimming, golf, biathlon, equestrian sport or mountain biking, pupils are encouraged to develop a lifelong love of physical activity.

The Performing Arts flourish, with pupils taking leading roles in productions, concerts and performances that build confidence, creativity and self-expression

Preparation for the Next Stage

A highlight of Year 8 is the Extended Project, inspired by the A-level EPQ. Pupils undertake independent research into an area of personal passion, developing analytical thinking, Harvard referencing, presentation skills and intellectual independence before presenting their findings through a TEDx-style presentation and professional exhibition.

Pupils leave Castle Court at the end of Year 8 with far more than academic success and scholarship awards. They leave as thoughtful leaders, creative thinkers and compassionate individuals — equipped with the confidence, character and values to thrive in senior school and beyond.
