Remembrance Day

At 11am on Tuesday 11th November we gathered as a school to hold a two minute silence to remember those who had died in conflicts across the world since the Great War.

Members of the pottery club had used the installation at The Tower of London as inspiration, and made ceramic poppies that were planted in the green area near the school hall.  The  Last Post was played by James from Year 8 (please see our Facebook page), and there were readings by members of year 8, including Hamish who read out his poem, written especially for the day.

A Poem of Remembrance

We will remember the people who fought

We will remember the people who were caught

We will remember the people who fell

We will remember the people who could not tell

We will remember them

We will remember the sudden gunfire

We will remember the shocking shellfire

After the redness of the Poppies growth

On the muddy battle fields we all know

We will remember them
