Castle Court Remembers

The Greenfingers Gardening group was joined by a few volunteers from across the older year groups in the school to sow some poppies of remembrance outside the Hall.  The seeds, kindly donated by the Royal British Legion, will hopefully germinate and bring a very visual reminder to the central concourse of the school, marking the 100th Anniversary of the outbreak of World War 1. The pupils who were present maturely discussed their understanding of the War and the need for younger generations to look back in gratitude for the lives lost in the pursuit of freedom, reflecting on John McCrae’s poem In Flanders Field.   Over the coming weeks, we hope to watch these tiny seeds grow, bringing a dash of colour to our corner of England.
