The music department at Castle Court is particularly strong and vibrant; nearly 150 children have individual instrumental lessons as well as their form music lessons. Each year the music team arrange a number of concerts, the last of which was at the end of the Spring Term. All the children from Years 5 to 8 took part either in the orchestras, choir, band, guitar group, brass group or recorder group, or as soloists. The finale saw all the children coming together on stage to perform the U2 classic “With or Without You”. Click on the following link if you would like to see an extract. With or Without You, arranged by Castle Court’s Director of Music, Roy Robinson
The beginning of the Easter holidays saw three members of Year 6 going to Crystal Palace to take part in the National Biathlon Finals. They had competed hard over the winter months to gain their places, competing against children from across the UK. The results are fabulous. Ben won the boys Year 6 competition, building upon his win in the Year 5 category in the same event last year. Jed came in 11th and Izzy 46th. Very inspiring. The photo shows the competitors before the event.
The Vikings have arrived at Castle Court! Year 3, as part of their history topic, turned into a tribe of Vikings for the day to experience a day in the life of a Viking. There were battles in the covered play area, a discussion on village life and a re-enactment of the Viking invasion of Lindisfarne. A great time was had by all!
