Other Sports

Other sports such as tennis, basketball, volleyball and cross-country are also taught, along with a comprehensive course of HRF (health related fitness), which includes the annual testing of each pupil for speed, strength, stamina, flexibility and power.

Tennis

Tennis is taught to the juniors, senior girls and those boys whose time is not taken up with team cricket. It is played on a social basis with no school fixtures as the team sports fill the calendar.

Cross Country

Both boys and girls from Year Five to Eight get the opportunity to join the Cross Country Club on Thursday evenings in the first half of the Autumn Term. Minibus drives take them out to many beautiful and challenging local locations, such as Badbury Rings, Stoney Down Plantation, Upton Country Park and Canford Heath.

The children often get the chance to run in the Poole and East Dorset trials, which can lead on to a place in the regional team. Some also enter the Dorset Championships which are usually held just after Christmas. Nearly all the boys and girls represent their School Houses in the the School Championships which take place at the end of the Spring term.
