Athletics

Athletics is one of three main sports during the summer term (along with cricket for boys and rounders for girls) and up to ten members of staff with differing expertise coach the children in a total of twelve different events.

The Walled Garden contains 75m, 200m and 75m Hurdles tracks; throwing areas for shot, discus and javelin/cricket ball; three long jump pits and a high jump area. All children are taught and coached in the appropriate events for their age group and extensive individual performance records are kept. All children participate in Sports Day, while the better ones compete for the school in the New Forest Championships, County Championships and the Wessex Prep School Championships (along with 25 other schools).

We are delighted to have won 103 Wessex medals over the last four years - sending 37 pupils on to the National Prep School Championships, where we have come away with six National Champions, six silver medals and five bronze medals.
