Year 6

For the first practical project pupils design and make high-speed buggies from sheet aluminium.  They begin by designing their own chassis shape from which the rest of the project stems.  Several skills such as sheering, punching and folding metal, soldering and accurate marking out are incorporated in this project.  It ends with testing/racing and evaluation.
Automata is the second main project and pupils make their own mechanical model with friction drive and cams.
