Summer Holiday Courses 2016

The holiday courses for summer 2016 have been launched!  This time the range of activities is as broad as ever, and we feel that there really is something for everyone: The “little littles” can spend time at Castle Court, taking full advantage of the fabulous grounds.  The “little kids” have a range of outings planned including horse riding and trips to Moors Valley and Kingston Lacy. The “big kids” can go coasteering, visit the New Forest Waterpark, play zorbing football, enjoy “mad science” and a visit from reptiles and birds of prey specialists as well as see the latest releases at the cinema, to name but a few of the adventures on offer.  If you would like to find out more  please contact the school office on 01202 694438 or email office@castlecourt.com.  Numbers are limited.

Year 8 help celebrate Shakespeare’s 400th anniversary

As part of Castle Court’s celebration of Shakespeare’s 400th anniversary, pupils in Years 7 and 8 have been taking part in a composition competition to create music to be used in the senior school play which takes place on June 30th.  Pupils took inspiration from film clips, art works and extracts from the text of the play.  The main focus for these compositions was Caliban’s speech.  Here is one example of the pieces that will be used during the performance in June.

Be not afeard. The isle is full of noises,

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight, and hurt not:

Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments

Will hum about mine ears; and sometimes voices,

That, if I then had waked after long sleep,

Will make me sleep again, and then, in dreaming,

The clouds methought would open, and show riches

Ready to drop upon me, that when I waked,

I cried to dream again.`

Trips, outings and activities

This is the term of trips, outings and activities.  During the term children will camp under the stars, travel to France to spend an adventure week, or visit the sites of the World War Two battlefields, sail in the Purbecks and explore Devon, by both land and sea.  By the time the children leave Castle Court at the end of Year 8 we hope that they will embrace adventure, always give new experiences a try and will understand the importance of creative thought and teamwork outside of a traditional classroom environment.  The first trip of the term is to Corfe Castle to explore both the history and geography of the area.

New Sports Hall

We are very excited to be able to announce that the building work on the new sports hall will begin in May, with the aim being that the hall will be ready for us all to use from September 2016.

Dan Carroll our Director of Sport commented “Our children have received sports scholarships to Bryanston, Canford, Clayesmore and Bournemouth Collegiate over the last few years.  It is exciting that we are developing our sports facilities further.  The building of the sports hall along with our astro, 5 acres of sports fields, swimming pool and the 35 acres of woods that provide an excellent cross country course, means that Castle Court’s facilities are now some of the best in the area.”
