IAPS Sailing

Once again the IAPS sailing competition is being held at the Olympic Sailing Venue at Portland.  Castle Court has sent sailing squads on both days, and both have done well, coping with variable gusty wind, rain and cloudy skies.

STOP PRESS: U13 crew came 12th out of 45 boats.  Great result!

IAPS Swimming Champion

Congratulations to Ella from Year 7, who after posting a phenomenal qualifying time, went on to win her age group free style event at the IAPS National Swim Finals held at Crawley.  At the same event three other Castle Court swimmers, Hester, Rachel and Freddie, who had also won places at these national finals, all came away with personal bests.  An excellent result, and well deserved as these swimmers put in a great deal of hard work with their early morning swim sessions.

European Tennis Success

The bank holiday weekend has been a busy one for members of the Castle Court Tennis Academy.  James and Alex were at the European Tour Competition at Bressuire.  Both boys did extremely well.  James partnered up with the Belgium number 3 to win the Boys 10&U doubles event, and Alex reached the 12&U single semi final, and the boys doubles final, narrowly loosing both matches.  Richard Stevenson, our Headmaster commented “To have two members of our tennis squad playing to such a high international level really is fabulous, and for them both to have done so well in such a high profile event against the best in Europe makes us all very proud. ”  If you would like to know more about the Castle Court tennis programme please email Jane Robson admissions@castlecourt.com

General Election

Election fever seems to be everywhere and Castle Court is no different.  Members of Year 8 have thought about what they would like their own political parties to achieve, and from this four new parties have been created: The Libertatem Party, The Student Independence Party, Today for Tomorrow and Only Intelligent Kangaroo Party.  The manifestos concentrate on local politics (more choice at lunch, more choice in sports on offer and greater use of the school woods to name a few) through to national and international issues, better access to education across the world (especially for girls), less expensive higher education, better pay for teachers (that has gone down well in the staff room!), a focus on green issues and a request for life boats across the world – wherever you are you should not be more than 45 minutes away from rescue.  So a diverse range of pledges and ideas.  If you would like to read more then head to CC Central on the moodle pages to read the full manifestos.  The Castle Court election result will be published on these pages next week.

New Rainbow Room

The Badger Cubs and Badgers keep on developing!  We are very excited that this term a new Badger Cubs room has been opened, that has a great soft play area.  The teddies and toys were very much looking forward to welcoming the children at the beginning of term – here is a photo of them getting ready to the first day of fun and play at the beginning of the term.
