The aim of the art department is to inspire creativity whilst teaching essential skills in all aspects of art, and the specialism of pottery.
From Year 4 upwards the children benefit from specialist teaching in all aspects of the subject, including pottery and ceramics. The facilities are excellent. A spacious and airy Art Room is fully equipped with an extensive variety of art materials so that projects ranging from drawing in various media, to painting, 3Dimensional structure work, screen-printing, silk painting and computer-aided design may be done.
A fully qualified ceramics’ teacher manages the Pottery, and here experience is offered in the use of different clays, decorating methods and firing techniques.
Every pupil has an hour-long lesson each week, and also the opportunity to make use of the department and all it has to offer in the lunch times and on two club evenings. An annual Art and Pottery exhibition, which is the culmination of the year’s work, is mounted each July
