China comes to Badgers who celebrate the New Year in style!
Badgers have enjoyed learning about Chinese New Year. We have had lots of fun decorating the classroom, dressing up in traditional Chinese clothing and dancing to special music. We watched a Chinese lion dance and then did our very own special dance to music.
The Badgers decorated a Chinese New Year blossom tree, enjoyed making an Ox and trying our own Chinese writing for our red packets.
We made lanterns and our own bowl of collage oranges. Oranges are often taken to other families as gifts and displayed at Chinese New Year. Their Chinese names sound like the words for “gold” and “wealth”.
We sang Chinese songs and learnt to say “Hello” and “Happy New Year”!
We also tried to use chopsticks and loved pretending to eat noodles with them!
