The 10th December was the day for Christmas plays from Badger Cubs to Year 2. It was a truly delightful festival of acting, singing and dancing with all three plays telling the Christmas story in very different ways. The audience for the Reception play, “Scarecrow’s Christmas”, were particularly delighted to meet members of the cast from the first time that the play was performed at Castle Court ten years ago. Jenna and Anoushka, both now at Canford, presented the children with some celebratory chocolates after the performance before going backstage to congratulate them on putting on such a fabulous Christmas presentation.
Thank you to everyone who donated a shoe box of goodies to be distributed by the Bournemouth Churches Housing Association. Year 3 helped to pack all the boxes into the BCHA car. The contents of the boxes donated by the Castle Court community will ensure that nearly 70 children wake up on Christmas morning with some fabulous presents.
Castle Court sent a strong team to the Dorset Junior Chess Championships during the last weekend of term. Approximately 100 players entered this championship from schools all over Dorset. After some very exciting games Freddie from Year 4 won the Dorset U9 Championship, Dhani won a silver medal finishing second in the U10/11 category, Charlie won a bronze medal finishing third in the U8 category and Arthur came 4th in the U8 category. Huge congratulations to you all. Photo below shows Freddie before one of his matches.
Congratulations to the U11A hockey team who won the Dorset Championship in fine style at Talbot Heath yesterday (1.12.14). The girls won all of their matches by playing quick, fluent, attacking hockey. They scored 15 goals and conceded none. The girls have now qualified for the South of England Championships next term.
Our chess team have just competed in their first match, and have won against a strong team from Millfield Prep, where chess is taught by a resident international chess Grand Master. A huge accolade as many players have only started to learn the game recently. We are looking to hosting Millfield for a return match later in the year.
