Royal Horticulture Society Gardening for Schools – Level 3 achieved

Congratulations to all who are involved with the Greenfingers plot.  Castle Court has just been awarded Level 3 in the RHS Gardens for Schools campaign following an audit of the way in which the gardens were used across the curriculum throughout the Summer Term 2014.  We hear that the team are already half-way to a Level 4 award so we look forward to sharing their success with you again soon! The photo below shows a pupil from a Year 1 class is enjoying demonstrating quite how long the roots on a broccoli plant can grow, before successfully potting it on to take home.

Harvest Festival

Thank you to Rev Haviland, the Chaplain of Bryanston who gave the address at this morning’s Harvest Festival.  This very special all school service attended by over 150 parents was a celebration of what Harvest means to us.  The children read, led prayers, performed plays and  specialist readings to illustrate why this time of year is so important.  A collection of fresh fruit and vegetables, plus dried foods was given by families from across the school, and these will be taken to BCHA later in the day.  Thank you to everyone who took part and helped make this such a special celebration.

Some parents then joined Castle Court Parent’s and Friends at their World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, helping to raise Over £1100 for Macmillan Cancer Research. Thank you to all who helped!

Milton Abbey Golfing Success

On Sunday 22nd September, Castle Court entered a team for the Milton Abbey Golf Tournament. The school won the tournament in 2010 and 2011, but due to poor weather it hasn’t take place for the past two years. This time, the weather was fantastic and there isn’t a more picturesque school course than Milton Abbey. Once again, despite a formidable struggle against Sherborne prep, we won the trophy with a great team display led by Josh  who as a Year 5 boy was in the team in 2011.  Josh’s other team members were Jack, Charlotte and Billy.  Congratulations to you all! The photo shows the successful golfers with Castle Court’s Head of Golf, Mr Pete Carr.

IAPS Tennis Champions

Over the summer break members of the Castle Court Tennis Academy took part in a number of tournaments including the IAPS tennis championships held at Eton College from the 14-16th July.  The squad, only in it’s second year, came away with some fabulous results. They won three winners medals: James & Alex won the 12&U Doubles and Toby defended his 12&U title. Toby and Ben also did brilliantly winning through to the doubles semi finals and both Alex  and James got through the quarter finals in their singles competitions.  Huge congratulations all around, with some great results against a very high quality field. The photo shows Toby, Alex and James with their winners medals and trophies.
