Castle Court’s Boys First Hockey VII have won a place at the Independent Schools’ (IAPS) Hockey Finals to be held in March at Millfield School.
The Annual IAPS Hockey competition is open to over 500 prep schools from around the whole of the UK. Local and regional competitions are held, with the schools who are regional finalists being offered places at the National Finals.
Castle Court had to beat opposition from prestigious prep schools across the south-west including Millfield, Port Regis, The Downs, Avon and Monkton Combe to finish 2nd in the south-west, headed only by Cheltenham College, and win one of the places allocated to the south-west at the National Finals.
Nick Robinson, Director of Sport commented, “ We have a very strong tradition of developing excellent hockey players at Castle Court. We have built up a team of highly experienced coaches, all of whom have experience of playing or coaching at least at regional level. The children are therefore able to reach their full potential and as a result over the last few years Castle Court have reached six finals and come away as medal winners on four occasions. This success then continues for the children with five over recent seasons going on to play at international level for England and Team GB for the U14, U16 and U18 boy and girl squads”
