Castle Courts senior girls’ hockey teams have had a great term. The U12s finished an excellent 2nd place in the West IAPS Tournament at Millfield, earning a place at the Nationals at Potters Bar. Here they excelled themselves. After a narrow defeat to eventual winners, Gresham’s, Castle Court went from strength to strength, playing intelligent hockey with tight defending, excellent teamwork and determination, and good attacking movement. It was great to see Castle Court matching the very best Prep school sides in the country. The team fought their way through to the Plate Final, winning an exciting match 2-1 under floodlights at the end of the day. IAPS National Plate Winners is a fine achievement – well done!
Meanwhile, the U11 girls had won 6 school matches in a row, so we approached the Dorset Schools Tournament with confidence. In a howling gale and lashing rainstorm at Talbot Heath, the team played bravely and excellently. Results of 1-1, 5-0 and 4-1 later, the U11s became County Champions, for the third time in three years, and will go on to the West Schools Finals in March.
And finally we have just learned that 8 out of 13 of the Dorset U14 Boys Hockey squad for next term are current or recent Castle Court players! Congratulations to Henry B, Rufus D, Josh E, Louis R and Alby S, and to Ben B, Alex S and Sam W.
